Dian Ver Valen is editor of the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin. After growing up on a Christmas tree farm in rural Western Washington, she received her bachelor’s in journalism from Western Washington University in 2003. She received her master’s in communication and leadership from Gonzaga University in 2016. She has worked in community journalism for 17 years as a reporter and editor at various weekly and daily newspapers in Washington state. She moved to the Inland Northwest a decade ago and is passionate about the region’s communities, its people, its landscapes and its news. She lives in Walla Walla with her five children, two dogs and her husband, Chris.
