Rick Brouns is a retired senior manager from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory operated by Battelle Memorial Institute, where he spent over 35 years managing technology research, development, design, and deployment efforts in the environmental and national security fields. His management experience includes leading individual research projects as the principle investigator to planning and managing major programs to serving as the Chief Science and Technology Officer (CSTO) for PNNL’s National Security Directorate. As the CSTO he was responsible for leading strategic planning efforts, funding new capability development, and supporting major program development in emerging fields. On multiple occasions Rick held senior management positions with organizations outside of PNNL at the request of the Department of Energy and the private contractors who managed some of DOE’s largest nuclear design and construction projects. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington.
