Sean Flaherty was born and raised in the Seattle area, but he has family and friendly ties throughout the Pacific Northwest.  He attended college in Walla Walla at Whitman earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.  Married to Wendy, the couple have three kids, all adults now. Two are in the Seattle area and their oldest lives on the east coast near the other Washington.

Sean & Wendy have lived in Bellevue, Boise, Silverdale, and most recently in West Richland (Tri-Cities). They now reside in East Wenatchee and are getting to know the area and their neighbors.

Sean became the Wenatchee World’s Advertising Director in the spring of 2018, about the same time the Wenatchee World was purchased by Wick Communications.  Since then, he has been busy working with his team to help local businesses and organizations market themselves successfully. A year ago he took on the role of General Manager, leading the Wenatchee World news media organization.

Sean grew up in the newspaper business in Seattle where his family owned and published community newspapers. “My grandfather started the Beacon Hill News and South District Journal in Seattle. He was the classic bow-tied editor, journalist and publisher writing about and living in his community.”

“My father was more of a community and business man – he seldom wrote for the papers. His passion was starting and acquiring newspapers while being very involved in community groups. “

Sean worked in the family business while growing up, but chose to pursue a different path following college. He explains “When an opportunity to go back to work with my father for our newspapers came up, I took it. Then, less than a year later, dad sold the family business, but I was hooked!”

“I love what we do. I enjoy working with people and businesses in the community.” Sean says.

“As all media continues to change, it is a very exciting time for Wenatchee and the Wenatchee World.”
